Bear Rug Portrait, Anyone?

My friend Julianne is writing her Master's thesis on Whistler's Symphony in White No. 1 (The White Girl), 1862. Basically Julianne knows everything about this painting and the mid 19th century. She is so smart and so nice too! She shared a few photographic gems with me, that she came across in her research, of an American artists' model named Evelyn Nesbit. Nesbit was an interesting figure herself, being caught up in a murder trial and various affairs. If you care to read up on her, go for it! If not, just enjoy these strange, very cool photos! (Note: Nesbit was NOT the model for Symphony in White, but her similar poses are very interesting!)

Very cool photos! And thanks for posting that link to Evelyn Nesbit. She was a very interesting lady.

I've been meaning to ask Julianne about how her thesis is coming along - thanks for the reminder!

Wow ! Where do I get a bear skin rug like that? That would look fabulous spread across my floor.

Of course the kids would probably be scared out of their minds. I guess I will have to wait. ;-)

LOL! Shilo I think you should have your picture take with a bear rug!
